2005 Ural Patrol

Well, I've been looking for a two wheel drive Ural on and off for a long time
and I've finally shot the lock off my wallet and bought one.
I've been activly looking all over the east coast and pretty much anywhere in the US.
Realizing I'll be bringing my son to preschool starting
in September I really started a push to get one. I was all set to pick up a 2005 Patrol in green
that was located near Chattanooga, TN
but at the last minute the seller decided that he no longer wanted to
honor the price we had worked out but instead wanted his full asking price!
Actually, in my experience, that is all too common in the Ural world.
This was the third potential sale that either the price has gone up
from what was advertised or back up from a deal we had struck.
Weird.
Anyway, as one deal fell apart another emerged.
I found this 2005 Patrol in Oklahoma at 42% less
than the one in Tennessee I was ready to buy.
Add $500 for the trailer and it was a done deal.
I was going to use
Interstate Auto Shippers
to get the one in TN because they were referred to me by
Wagners Cycle,
a very involved Ural dealer in Arkansas,
so I called called and told them to change plans
and head to Oklahoma instead of Tennessee.
It went from $675 for a Ural with sidecar from TN to LI to
$950 for a Ural with sidecar AND trailer from OK to LI.
Door to door both ways.
I can't argue with that.

Here are a few pictures I've received from the previous owner.
I'll take some of my own when it gets here.

OK, I finally got my first Ural on Saturday March 14, 2009.

I loaded up the family and went for a 2 mile (Round Trip) ride to grab ice cream for dessert.
We'll see how my first ride to work goes tomorrow morning!

Well, it was shifting really bad so I warmed it up with a 5 minute ride to work
and decided to change the tranny fluid which should have been 20W-50 motor oil.
This is what I got!!!

That swirl of what looks like oil was residual from the oil container that I cut open to use as a catch pan.
Remarkable!!!
