So my friend John that lives in
Virginia sends out a link to a Craigslist ad for a dropped 2004
V-Strom 650 for cheap and writes " If anybody's interested beyond just
curiosity I could go look at this for ya."
I E-mail the guy in VA and ask for better pictures (the 4 in the ad were worthless) and if he's
flexible at all on the price.
He writes me back and says the
the lowest he can go is $100 less with these pictures.

I forward them to John and ask him
how much of a pain in the ass it would be for him to eyeball it for me. John
says "I'm about 10 miles from him." I'm thinking "Perfect, I don't feel bad for
10 miles, it's not like it's an hour or anything." John goes and gets me these
shots on Sunday.

Long story short, here it is in John's driveway waiting
for me to go get it.

And a few more pics that John took
today while he was supposed to be cleaning his garage.

Looks like I have my work cut out
for me.
John needed to be in PA
this weekend so he threw the Wee in his van and on Saturday 10/4/08
Jaime and I drove to PA to pick it up.
Not bad, about 4 hours each way.
Great little bike.

I took it out for a little spin for
milk and gas.
The bike has just shy of 29,000 miles on it but I'm riding it every day until it sells.
Figure 29,xxx if it sells in March or April.
30,xxx if it sells after May.
It had a rebuilt title from WV when I got it and I registered it up in VT
(saved me about $300 over registering it in NY) so now it has a rebuilt VT title that is in my possession.
The battery that was in it was junk so I swapped it for a West Co. AGM battery that was sized for a Honda ST11.
It was about a 1/2" taller but fit no problems.
It is rated at 14ha instead of 12 for the stock battery.
That battery was actually bad from the factory so I bought one of West Co.'s SVR batteries.
These (IIRC) are US made for big inch twins and basically high torque applications.
DEFINITELY spins the starter up VERY nicely!!! :D
This is a short list of what I've added to it.
* SW Motec side racks for H&B hard bags.
* Givi top rack.
* SW Motec Center Stand
* Wind Strom Windshield (plus stock shield)
* Heated Grips (the kind that wrap under whatever grips YOU like with Heat-Troller heated grip controller)
* IMS Footpegs.
* New Mirrors.
* Renthal Bars.
* Scotts Performance Stainless Steel Oil Filter
* LED Tail Light
* LED Blinkers (F&R)
* Centech Fuse Block
* Sonic Fork Springs
* Amsoil Fork Fluid
I'd take $3,950 for it the way it sits now with all the stuff listed above (no tank bag, tail bag, or tank panniers).
If you aren't interested in some of the extras I could remove them and lower the price.
Just E-mail me and we'll go it item by item.
Here are some pictures that I took Tuesday March 10th.
