My wife Jaime and I bought a '09 Ford Flex about oh,
6 weeks ago today.
We stopped by a friend's house (a non-gated community)
to pick up his old beater Durango that he was gonna junk.
Needs work but I'll gladly use it in the snow when I don't want to ride (not often).
We have a flat bed follow us, we chat while the driver hooks the Durango.
We're ready to go and hear a noise outside.
Jaime says "Somebody just hit my car." Very casually.
We go outside and our friends are the last house in the community.
Maybe 150' from the stop sign with the median right in front of their house.
This FUCKING 18 YEAR OLD @#%! talking on her cell phone hit the drivers
side rear of the Flex, moved it about 2 feet forward and six inches up
onto the curb (by hitting the side mind you), launched her two passenger
side wheels in the air, landed, took a chunk out of the road, blew out
her axle, shock, and spring, veered off to the left, and landed in the fucking median.
ALL WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKES
OR HANGING UP THE GOD DAMNED PHONE!!!
The two tow truck guys watched the whole thing.
My wife was very calm and didn't say much.
I never spoke to the girl, I spoke to her boy friends dad and her mom.
I never raised my voice.
I told the boyfriends father
"It would probably make me feel better if I lost my temper and
screamed at you but it really wouldn't help the situation so why bother."
The @#%!'S mother called my house to thank me for being so nice and had
the balls to say she feels bad for me because I have to put up with my
wife who is a nasty person for not asking how her daughter was doing!!!
My wife actually asked twice if she was OK.
I never asked because honestly, as soon as I turned to see her car on
the median and she was still talking on the phone
I wished she would have been a little injured.
Maybe that would have cured her of thinking she's invincible.
We have a $35,000, six week old car whose resale
value just went to half because of this @#%!.
If she calls again I'm getting a restraining order.
Maybe for her, maybe for ME!!!
